Orchard Toys | Build a Beetle

May 27, 2016

When I was at primary school I can always remember attending different fundraising nights that the PTA had organised. My all time favourite had to the Beetle Drive. Such a simple game but one that could frustrate me so much especially if I was waiting to throw a certain number on the dice.

With the half term holidays ahead I have been looking into getting some great travel games for when we are on the train or staying overnight in a hotel which will hopefully entertain the children. Looking for something that is great quality and durable I turned to Orchard Toys.

Orchard Toys Build a Beetle

A close up of a toy

Based on the classic game of Beetle Drive, Build a Beetle features four smiley and quirky beetle characters which children must match, body part by body part. Fun and laughter are guaranteed as players try to be the first to build their beetle!

Contents:

  • 4 nine-piece beetles
  • 1 spinner
  • 1 two-part spinner (plastic arrow and base)

How to Play:

  1. Take it in turns to spin the spinner. To start building your beetle you must spin a 6 to collect your beetle body otherwise play passes to the next player until you have gained your beetle body
  2. Continue taking it in turns building up the parts of your beetle. This can be done in any order apart from piece 4 (antennae) which can only be collected after you have piece 5 (head) in place.
  3. The first person to complete their beetle is the winner

Boo Roo and Tigger Too’s thoughts…

A classic game which should be part of every childhood. Roo and Tigger have played this game at Magic Nanny’s house so were familiar with the game play and how to win. In order to make it easier for them to collect each body part, we laid them out around the edge of the spinner.

The game, although a simple one can really become quite competitive and a great one for keeping children and adults entertained.

Price and Availability

The Build A Beetle game is priced at £4.99 and available to buy from Orchard Toys. With additional mini games also available within the range.

Disclosure: We received a Build a Beetle FOC for the purpose of review
