From The Bookshelf // Laugh Out Loud Book Awards {9-13 Year Olds}

September 10, 2018

The Laugh Out Loud Book Awards – affectionately known as the Lollies – is a celebration of the very best and funniest books for children, voted for by children themselves!

The award was set up by Scholastic UK in 2016 and is supported by BookTrust and Michael Rosen. They hope – along with the help of schools, teachers and parents – to draw attention to funny books to encourage kids to get reading and to enjoy it too!

Publishers submit their funniest children’s books of the previous year to be nominated for the award and a panel of judges is chosen to help whittle down this long list of Lollies entries.

Laugh Out Loud Book Awards {9-13 Year Olds}

Tom Gates: Epic Adventure (Kind Of)

Having TWO sets of grandparents is turning out to be VERY GOOD for me. The WRINKLES are KEEN on giving presents AND they’re planning a FAMILY OUTING too, which is going to be EPIC Delia wants to come as well. (Why?) I can always ignore her.

My Mum’s Growing Down

Mum. I know you’re not a normal Mum…

My mum is a gamer, a soldier in disguise, a superhero pirate, an undercover spy.

What if this was your Mum?

Uncle Shawn and Bill and the Almost Entirely Unplanned Adventure

BADGER BILL NEEDS RESCUING

He’s been kidnapped by two nasty sisters who are about to make him fight a boxing match against three even nastier dogs.

Four very depressed llamas need rescuing too. They are about to be turned into llama pies. But never fear – UNCLE SHAWN is here! Or near, anyway. He loves rescuing things. He has a sort-of plan, which involves dancing, and a mother mole, and an electric fence.

WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?

Football Season 2: Where Football Saves the World

    FOOTBALL SEASON 2: WHERE FOOTBALL SAVES THE WORLD – as we are all completely football mad in our house. We suffered huge withdrawals when the World Cup finished as we must have watched every match and not just the England ones. Happier when the season started again although our teams (a mix of 4) are having a bit of a “up and down” start.
