A recent European study of 5040 children between the ages of 10-15 was conducted by Kaspersky, the global cyber security experts, and has highlighted disturbing statistics about children’s use of the internet. Moreover, it suggests that there is a lack of protection for children while they are using the internet which is just as alarming.
It’s also quite shocking to discover then, that over one in five children has admitted that their parents have not set any rules about how their internet use and even more concerning to find out that two-thirds of those children surveyed said they would know how to hide their internet viewing history from their parents.
With over two-thirds of children have admitted to hearing bad language on the internet and one-third who have said they had witnessed online violence and one-quarter having viewed online pornography, it’s not hard to see why something needs to be done urgently to institute greater protection.
