What is laminate flooring?

Laminate flooring is a synthetic multi-layered flooring product which is fused together in a laminate process using heat. Laminate wood flooring is designed to mimic real wood and on occasions natural materials such as stone. The photographic design layer is protected by a layer of clear resin and a fibre board on the underside. A hard-wearing resin core material is used in the centre of the product and the laminate is also laid on top of a fleece material to provide cushioning and bounce to the floor.

Benefits of laminate flooring for families

If your home is a typically busy family home with children, cats and dogs coming and going you’ll want to find a flooring solution which will provide a clean hard-wearing surface. Ideally, you’ll want a flooring which will make your home look beautiful but is also easily cared for. Laminate flooring is the perfect solution for a hard-wearing and attractive finish which will absorb the traffic and all the abuse that a family floor receives.

Quick and easy to lay

A huge benefit of laminate flooring is how easy and quick it is to lay. Pre-grooved on either edge, the flooring clicks together extremely easily to form a tight bond between each panel. Each section can be easily and cleanly cut and once it is put down it is less likely to experience expansion or shrinking depending on the heating and moisture levels in your home. Unlike solid wood flooring, it also stands up to wear from pets and also high heels or anything which can cause an imprint in the floor. Better still laminate flooring is excellent value when compared to other floor coverings, hygienic, great for allergy sufferers and incredibly easy to keep clean. You’ll be so pleased with your choice of flooring that you’ll want to use it in every room!
