How did you choose your children’s names

August 25, 2015

I’m not sure whether it is a girl thing or not but I can always remember having a list of baby names that I liked and wanted to call my children from an early age (along with my dream wedding).

When I fell pregnant with Roo, Mr Boo and I discussed names and agreed upon one girls name which happened to be the name from my childhood list. In turn we agreed upon one boys name which is an important family name to us both (Mr Boo’s grandfather and my late older brother and favourite late uncle’s name).

So when Roo arrived and she was a girl (we didn’t find out the gender) we has a girl’s name ready for her. Fast forward to falling pregnant with Tigger and we didn’t discuss names until we had our 20 week scan to find out the gender. As luck would have it Tigger turned out to be a boy which allowed us to use the boy’s name we had already agreed upon when we were expecting Roo.

Now that we are pregnant with Piglet we once again waited until our 20 week scan to hopefully find out the gender in order to start looking at names. Now that we know we are expecting a little girl we can now start the name game once again. The thing is we can think of lots of boys names that we agree upon however finding a girl’s name that we both like is proving difficult. Which got me to pondering…

How did you choose your children’s names?
