Hosting a summer party

July 6, 2016

So summer is here, no honestly it is, we’re just waiting for the weather to catch up with the season change and bring out the sunshine. With just two weeks until the children finish school for the summer it’s time to start planning what fun we are going to have.

With days out planned, from enjoying fun rides at Drayton Manor to visiting the fish and penguins at the SEALIFE Centre. We can’t be out everyday, both my energy levels and bank balance couldn’t cope so I’ve created a list of things we can do at home too. From exploring the local woods, having a water fight and hosting a summer party.

This is our first year of having a garden and I feel as though I need to repay many a BBQ and party held at family and friends houses. So this summer I’m party planning…

Decorations

I’m looking to get the children involved on this one which will help keep them occupied. I’ve been stalking Pinterest, a great way to lose a couple of hours of your life as you get sucked into all the amazing creations that people have come up with. Personally, I’m not all that creative so we are sticking to balloons, paper chains and some bunting made from some old bed sheets glued onto string.

Food

Whilst I’m happy to whip up a batch of sausage rolls in the oven for a works party (these are my signature dish), I’m sure that my guests will be looking for much more than sausage rolls. One of the things I always feel bad about when we go to parties etc is that the hosts never get a chance to sit down and relax with their guests.

I’ve been thinking whether or not to get the caterers in, I want to host a summer party and spending quality time with family and friends. So getting DCS Multiserve to cover the catering seems like a great idea, they can worry about the food and I can worry about making sure my guests are having a fab time.

Activities

I’m delegating this one to Roo, she is the queen of activity planning so I know she’ll love both organising and running the different games. She’s suggested a penalty shoot-out (perfect following the Euro’s), a scavenger hunt (perfect for the children) and a talent show (perfect for all the divas).

Not really sure of what other activities she can plan, any ideas?

Are you hosting a summer party this year?
