Will you be joining in this Great British Tennis Weekend?

July 10, 2016

As we made the move to a bigger home earlier this year I wanted it to not only be the opportunity for us to have the space we need to grow as a family but for it to also offer us the opportunity to have new experiences as a family. The children’s new school has already given them the opportunity to try new things within the school day, with Tennis being just one of them.

They are very lucky to have a MUGA (multi-use gaming area) to the side of the school which gives the pupils access to a range of sports and currently at lunchtime they are able to play tennis. Whilst Roo has had a little go in the past it is only through the instruction of the coaches that she is grasping how the game works and the techniques involved.

Wimbledon has grown in popularity over the last few years especially for school age school as tennis is being made more accessible for everyone. The Lawn Tennis Association are encouraging families to get involved with the Great British Tennis Weekend (Saturday 16th July and Sunday 17th July), with free sessions available at your local tennis club.

Try tennis for free this summer at a Great British Tennis Weekend event! Taking place on 16th/17th July 2016.

Thousands of free events will be taking place throughout the summer and all across the country, with sessions to suit the whole family. There are Highland Spring Mini Tennis sessions, family time, free play, Cardio Tennis and numerous other kinds of activities to get involved in.

Rackets and balls will be provided, so whether you’ve never picked up a racket before or you’re a seasoned regular – there is fun to be had.

We’re joining in

Looking for a great family activity to do and a bit of extra fitness for us all, I’ve managed to book us in at our local Taverham Tennis Club during the Great British Tennis Weekend.

I’m hoping that this will encourage Tigger to try is hand at the sport as he will be starting to access the MUGA once he goes up into Year 1 in September. It will give Roo the opportunity to show us what she has been learning at school in her lunch break. As well as offering both children the opportunity to laugh when they see how uncoordinated their mum is at hitting a ball (thank goodness they get their sporting finesse from Mr. Boo).
