Disney Magical Bedtime Call

August 29, 2014

The bedtime routine in any house can either go smoothly or the complete opposite… no matter if you follow the same process every night it will nearly always go a different way to the night before. A combination of either the child or the parent being that little bit more tired than usual can really have an effect on the bedtime wind down.

Whilst one night your child might be happy to go to bed as they are tired out from a busy day, the next night they are plucking excuses from their imagination in other to try and delay bedtime.

BEDROOM MORE DEMANDING THAN THE BOARDROOM WHEN IT COMES TO CHILD

10 bedtime excuses

Ten of the most unusual and creative excuses given by children for avoiding bedtime according to their parents who took part in the survey include:

  1. The bed is full of imaginary friends
  2. Teddy needs the toilet again and isn’t tired
  3. I need to stay up to keep mum and dad company
  4. The family pet isn’t going to bed yet so why do I have to?
  5. There’s an insect in the room
  6. There’s an alien on the windowsill
  7. I’m worried that if I go to sleep the tooth fairy will take all my teeth
  8. The window is open and a witch might fly in
  9. I have to feed the family pet first
  10. I’m expecting a phone call

Whilst at Granny’s house recently Tigger was told it was time for bed, so he popped his red muslin cloth (his bedtime blanket) around his back like a cape, looked at Granny and said ‘but superheroes don’t go to bed‘… well I suppose he has a point but sadly for him it didn’t wash and Granny sent him to bed anyway.

The usual excuses in the Boo Roo and Tigger Too household feature, but I haven’t been to the toilet, I didn’t give Daddy a goodnight kiss or just one more story.

Disney launches goodnight calls from characters to help put the magic into bedtimes for kids and parents

Disney UK have launched a new Disney Magical Bedtime ‘time for bed’ call service from some of its iconic characters after research revealed that many UK parents are left exhausted by the demands of putting their children to bed. Disney favourites including Mickey and Minnie Mouse will help parents coax their kids to bed with a call wishing them goodnight and a fun reminder of the importance of a good night’s sleep.

To help encourage kids into bed or reward good behaviour, parents can now text the new Disney service to arrange for their children to receive a special goodnight call from four much-loved characters including Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Cinderella and Jake the Never Land Pirates.

Whose bedtime message would you like to hear?

Boo Roo and Tigger Too’s thoughts…

I really love this service, the idea that a child can get a telephone call from their favourite Disney character explaining that it’s time for bed is simply magical. At the moment the character options are limited to just four and I hope that as the service grows it will be rolled out to include some of the other Disney favourites.

Tigger loves watching Jake and the Neverland Pirates so to test drive the Disney Magical Bedtime service I decided to choose Jake as his bedtime treat. Within a minute of sending the text message we got a call back, I handed the phone over to Tigger and his face was a picture. It was both sweet and funny to watch as he couldn’t work out how Jake was calling him. As the call ended I asked him what Jake had said to him ‘it’s bedtime Mummy… come on’ he replied as he got up and started to head to the stairs.

For the cost of a standard text message I love the service and can see it becoming a bedtime treat for getting ready and in to bed without any fuss.
