One of the things that we always look at when we visit London is the riverboat cruises that go up and down the Thames. For one reason or another, we have never managed to hop onboard and take a trip. With a special few days in London booked for just Roo and me, it seemed the perfect time to take advantage of the different sights along the water’s edge.
City Cruises | London
Discover the city’s extensive history from authentic London crews, brimming with local knowledge and unknown facts with interesting onboard commentary, as the sights sail by.
You won’t need to worry about losing little ones in the busy London crowds and can sail past all the landmarks that the city boasts with ease. The vessels offer an upper deck, lower deck and on board café which perfectly cater for the ever-changing British weather – and if the weather does turn grey, just say ‘free poncho!’ at the bar and receive a complimentary poncho.
Extend your day in London with a visit to a local attraction. City Cruises is proud of its strong connections with great sites, including The Shard which City Cruises is the official riverside cruise partner of, Tower of London, the Cutty Sark for families wanting to find out about life on board a top sailing ship and The London Eye which offers a spectacular view of London from 135 meters above the ground. The company offers exclusive ticket options for families combining the top attractions with a sightseeing cruise for what we think is a great day out.
As we made our way down the River Thames were treated to a knowledgeable guide who pointed out all the major sights as well as adding in some local knowledge. With the hustle and bustle of the London streets, it can be difficult to enjoy the different sights, however, sitting onboard City Cruises you are able to enjoy the gentle pace whilst sightseeing at the same time.
Families can enjoy a 50 minute Thames Circular Cruise along the river to Westminster and back (£23.40) or take advantage of unlimited trips for 24 hours with The River Red Rover pass (£33.30).
