Christmas Guide: school Age

Christmas Guide: School Age

November 21, 2014

I quite enjoy Christmas shopping for school age children, they are not afraid to vocalise their likes and dislikes and most importantly what it is they want for Christmas. Starting school and realising that their time spent playing with toys is suddenly cut down allows them to focus on which toys they prefer to play with and which ones they aren’t that bothered with any more.

When Roo started school I noticed a difference in the toys she would choose to play with and the ones she was happy to leave sitting in the toy box. So let me share with you a selection of school age Christmas gifts to inspire you this Christmas…

LEGO

LEGO has universal appeal, I think it all starts when we are babies first building towers from block and then giggling when the fall over. Growing up that love of playing with blocks progresses to attaching them together to create cities, spaceships or even funky juice bars.

The good thing about LEGO is that there is a set for everyone, from LEGO City, LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Super Heroes and Roo’s personal favourite LEGO Friends. Take this LEGO Friends Heartlake Juice Bar for example, they can choose to follow the instructions included within the set or they can live dangerously and create their own design from the LEGO pieces included.

School Age - LEGO Friends Heartlake Juice Bar

Wonderous Ink

Watching a child learning to read is like opening the door to a whole new world. As they start to gain more confidence with their reading why not give them a personalised book featuring their own name to make the discovery a new book that little bit more special.

Wonderous World, is one of the most beautifully illustrated and conceived bespoke children’s books, where the letters in a chosen child’s name become part of the adventure. This exquisite keepsake makes a really personal gift to fire mini imaginations now and beyond.

School Age - Wonderous Ink

Price: £19.99

Micro Scooters – Maxi or Sprite

One of the best things Roo owns has to be her Maxi Micro Scooter, it has saved the usual moans of I don’t want to walk again more, it has helped teach her about road safety and it gives her a good dose of exercise. Roo isn’t the most co-ordinated of children so the Maxi Micro Scooter was the best scooting option for her. It provides the stability of three wheels, taught her the lean to corner functionality of the Micro Scooters and it is something that is growing with her as the handlebar is adjustable.

When considering a scooter this Christmas take a look at whether the Maxi Micro Scooter with its adjustable handlebar, tough, durable frame and kickboard and intuitive tilt and lean steering or the Maxi Sprite which is perfect for those moving to two-wheel scooting, it is lightweight, can be folded when not in use and has an adjustable handlebar.

Price: Maxi Micro Scooters start at £99.95 and Mirco Sprites start at £74.95

My Blue Nose Friends

When I was younger I can remember collecting beanie toys from the Disney store, I had a thing for Piglet and had lots of them on shelves and around my bedroom. I loved saving my pocket money in order to buy the latest version to add to my collection. If I was that age again I would be buying My Blue Nose Friends.

School Age - My Blue Nose Friends November

My Blue Nose Friends all have blue noses and patches, just like Tatty Teddy. Some are cheeky and excitable, some are giggly, some are cautious and some are bursting with energy! And all of them love to play! My Blue Nose Friends love to explore their fun-filled land with Tatty Teddy and Tatty Puppy – the loveable pup who can’t help getting into mischief!
