Chessington World of Adventures – Azteca Hotel

Last month Roo, Tigger and myself were invited to stay at Chessington World of Adventures, in their Azteca Hotel as part of an event that we were attending. I have previously talked about the year of the penguins and the new Dreamworks Penguins of Madagascar film but felt that I needed to tell you about our hotel stay as a separate thing.

Firstly if you are new to Chessington World of Adventures like we were there are actually two hotels located on site, the Safari Hotel and the Azteca Hotel. The Safari hotel has an animal feel to it and houses the two new Dreamworks Penguins of Madagascar themed rooms, whilst the Azteca hotel houses temple treasures and discovery rooms.

Arrival and check-in 

Arriving at the reception desk in the Safari Hotel I’m not ashamed to admit that not only were Roo and Tigger excited to be there but I was too! As soon as you walk in you are transported to a different world fun of animal fun, with the focus being on families from wooden steps up to the reception desk so that the children can see what is happening at check in plus receiving their badges for staying in the hotel. There is also a small play area and TV lounge to keep little ones occupied whilst parents are checking in, getting a drink from the bar or booking a table in the restaurant.

Azteca Hotel – Temple Treasure

We were booked into a Temple Treasure room and as soon as we walked in the children shouted ‘WOW!’ and if I’m honest I felt like shouting it too. The room was decorated from top to bottom in the ancient temple theme, from a magnificent carpet to the detailing on the walls.

With the room able to accommodate 5 people (2x adults and 3x children) it can happily house a family for a night or two. With a large double bed for me and bunk beds for Roo and Tigger, with a trundle-bed underneath the hardest question was which bed was everyone going to sleep in?

Alongside the beds the room included two TV areas, one for the adults complete with desk area whilst the children had their own TV complete with safe underneath. Thinking it was lovely that they had included a safe for us to house any valuables it wasn’t until we were looking through the welcome pack that we realised that the safe was part of an activity for the children. Included in each of the rooms was an activity card that asked the children to answer four questions, with each question giving them a number to crack the safe – once completed the children were able to open the safe and find a little reward.

Facilities

Whenever we go away as a family we ended up bringing the world and his wife along with us as we are never quite sure what will be available within our hotel room and on site. Within the Temple Treasures room we were treated to some fabulous extras which really do help families not only with their packing but the ability to relax once they get into their room.

The bathroom included fresh, clean towels along with an array of toiletries including individually wrapped soaps, shampoo and conditioner. Whilst this might not seem that out of the ordinary it is the attention to detail that really caught my eye, everything had been laid out carefully and made it look so inviting.

Temple Restaurant & Bar

A premium buffet style restaurant that caters to almost every taste, we only ate breakfast within the Temple Restaurant however there was so much choice it was hard to decide what to eat first. Along side the delicious food there is also a range of activities that can be found within the Temple Restaurant & Bar:

• Character breakfasts – Imagine the look upon your children’s faces when you head down to breakfast to find one of their favourite characters waiting for them. Available on Saturdays, Sundays and throughout the school holidays
• Rangers Club – Let your children enjoy some fun, music and dancing with the Chessington Rangers. From learning new dance routines, dance contests and so much more. Available on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and throughout the school holidays
• Animal meet and greet – Children can get up close and personal with an array of different animals, from the exotic and endangered to the cute and cuddly. Available on Fridays, Saturdays and throughout the school holidays

Savannah Splash pool & gym

Don’t forget to pack your swimming things as the Savannah Splash pool and gym is available for all hotel guests so why not make the most of it!

Boo Roo and Tigger Too’s thoughts…

Staying on site at the Chessington World of Adventures Azteca hotel has provided Roo and Tigger with endless memories about our two-day stay. Tigger loved the decor, the giraffe statue on the way to the Savannah Splash pool and gym, the wallpaper and carpet within in our room, the character breakfast, the list goes on. For Roo she loved the Rangers Club, the Rangers were so friendly and happy to chat and get the children involved in singing and dancing, she loved the kids safe quiz in our room and the amazing buffet breakfast.

We had an amazing nights stay in the Azteca Hotel, we must go back and take Mr Boo with us this time so that he can enjoy all the delights.
