CAKE, Get A Job and Jakemans #LittleLoves

February 23, 2018

From Wednesday onwards I have spent most of the days attempting to recall what day of the week it actually is. Thinking it was a day later than it was, which when I remembered that it wasn’t was a good thing as I had more time to achieve a few more things on my to-do list. At the moment I’m splitting my time between producing content and playing catch up those blog admin tasks that I never seem to get round to. I’m thinking it might be more productive to dedicate one day a week to just that so that I can make headway on the mountain of things that need doing. All tedious tasks but once completed will hopefully make things run more smoothly.

This week’s #LittleLoves…

Read

I received a surprise package in the post from Macmillan Kids this week. With a copy of the new CAKE picture book from Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet. Along with a yummy biscuit and an invitation to an event in London (which I sadly can’t attend).

Having previously loved Supertato and Barry the Fish with Fingers, both from Sue Hendra I was keen to sit down with the children and read them her latest offering. A beautiful picture book story featuring CAKE who is invited to a party for the first time… Lets just say you’ll think twice about eating a slice of cake at the party you attend.

Watched

We seem to be on a run of Anna Kendrick films at the moment with Get A Job being the latest one for us to watch one evening this week. I’m not really sure what I expected from this film, although there were so many actors that I recognised in it for a film that I found whilst browsing the Sky Cinema Comedy collection. It was quite thought-provoking in that as children we are rewarded at school/clubs etc whether we win or lose. When we leave and it’s time to find a job, it’s a different world and you are not always rewarded.

Heard

The last couple of week’s I haven’t loved the #ThrowbackThursday playlist on Spotify, it has been OK but not amazing. Yesterday’s however was back on top form with a whole host of firm favourites that had me turning up the volume and singing along as I worked.

Made

This week I was invited for a tour around the Jakemans factory in Boston. Attending alongside Sabina from Mummy Matters and Claire from Diary of the Evans Crittens. It was truly amazing to see how the menthol throat & cough sweets are made and packaged. I even got to try my hand and helping to pack the boxes, although I fear I’m not quite up to their standards.

It’s a bit of a running joke about how much I love my Joules Harbour tops. With Mr Boo often commenting about which colour stripes I am wearing that day. As Sabina knew that I would be wearing a Joules top to the Jakemans factory tour, she messaged me in the morning to check that wouldn’t be wearing the same colour. This was my in-car selfie to showcase my navy and berry Harbour top (with my Joules Coast in berry… obviously!) – I also had a Joules bag with me, maybe I need to kerb my addiction!

Lastly

So very proud of Tigger this week. I booked him in for a swim assessment at a local pool with the view to start swimming lessons for him. Although he is happy to get in th pool he is nervous to splash and put his head into the water etc. He did amazingly and listened so well to the instructor who was guiding him through the tasks. As suspected he needs to gain some confidence in the water so will be joining a beginners class as soon as they have spaces available.
