So, we’ve had a couple of days of summer and now the clouds decided to take the sun’s place and that feeling of wanting to be outside all the time just isn’t the same. It feels so good to be outside with the kids when the sun is shining, it really lifts your mood, doesn’t it? And it’s not just the sun, it’s the being outside but when it’s cloudy and windy, you just don’t feel like it. I get it.
It would be good to have the feeling of being outdoors whilst being cosy indoors. Wouldn’t it be the best of both worlds? Once I had this idea in my head, nobody could take it away. So, I started searching and searching for the perfect solution.
This is when I stumbled across Designer Shade Solutions retractable louvre roof systems. Designer Shade Solutions create these elegant and modern pergolas that feature a retractable and tilting roof. Intriguing, right? As they explain on their website, their innovative systems allow you to “sit in the shade or sun during warm months and if it starts to rain, they will immediately change to a waterproof pergola roof.”
This article on Country Heart and Home explains that the roof of these modern pergolas can be opened if it’s sunny, “when it gets too sunny and you want some shade, the roof can be tilted, and if the weather quickly changes, the roof can be easily closed.”
I’ve always loved the look of pergolas and it comes as no surprise that pergolas were on the National Association of Landscape Professionals’ (NALP) official list of the top lawn and landscape trends of last year. However, the traditional pergola definitely isn’t practical in England as their lattice roof gives zero protection against rain, so I’m glad I found this modern alternative.
Luxirare also adds that these modern pergolas “can be installed as an extension to your home, right outside your patio or as a standalone structure in the middle of your garden to create an interesting focal point.” Remember what I said about a balance between outdoors and indoors? This is exactly what I’ve been looking for.
