Back to the grindstone…

September 6, 2011

Well I’m now officially back at work, no more SAHM for me. As both Roo’s school and Tigger’s nursery were closed Monday and Tuesday for training Daddy was home looking after them both whilst I put my best foot forward and headed off back to reality.

I felt so strange being back, in many ways it was as if I had never been away but then in others I felt so out of touch.

(I apologise in advance, here comes the moaning…)

The lady who has been covering my maternity came in as well to show me the ropes, HOWEVER, we don’t get on… She will now be covering my extra hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays as I wanted to reduce my hours/days. She didn’t show me anything, I have no idea why she bothered coming in apart from the extra pay. Thankfully by lunchtime she had gone, I started doing a few bits and pieces the girls asked me to do, this just left me frustrated as everything was a mess. Things were either not completed or completed incorrectly. I have no idea how we are supposed to job share when we (a) don’t get on and (b) have different standards of quality work.

I hoping that I can speak to my manager on Wednesday and ask how she sees things working between the two of us. I have a feeling that she will pick and choose what bits she wants to do and I’ll be left doing the rest. Which judging by the sub-standard level of work she is currently doing will be best.

(Moaning over… promise)

Although I wanted to be a SAHM I have always liked my work (well maybe not the work itself but the girls are fabulous), so maybe its not all bad. The girls are happy to have me back so I feel really appreciated by them at least.
