5 things to do in Norwich with the little ones this half term

February 12, 2016

Half term is fast approaching, and you know what that means: you’re going to have to find some way to keep the kids entertained for seven whole days. (Well, perhaps not ‘seven whole days’: call the babysitter for backup if you and your partner need a night to yourselves!)

5 things to do in Norwich with the little ones this half term

In any case, you might want to have some fun, interactive activities at the ready to stave off half term boredom. Here is a short list of events in and around Norwich for some great family friendly fun!

A Viking’s Guide to Deadly Dragons

If your little ones are fans of How to Train Your Dragon, they are going to love this. This exhibition – inspired by Cressida Cowell, the best-selling author behind the beloved books – immerses you in the world of Berk, a mythical land of Vikings and dragons. Your kids will love letting their imaginations run wild: they can listen to author interviews, see Cowell’s original illustrations and notebooks, and even dress up as a Viking. Featured at the Norwich Castle Museum from 6 February through 30 May 2016, you can visit the website for more details and admission information.

The Royal Arcade, Norwich

Located in the Royal Arcade, Jamie’s Italian Norwich is the perfect place for a mouth-watering delicious family meal out. Every dish is prepared with responsibly sourced, fresh ingredients, and they have an award-winning kids’ menu that will satisfy even the pickiest of young eaters. They also have vegetarian and gluten-free options available to accommodate any dietary restrictions. So let someone else do the cooking for once and relax at Jamie’s!

Signs of Spring Walk at Fairhaven

If the weather permits, get the gang outside and take them on a Signs of Spring walk! Just a short drive from Norwich city centre (about half an hour from the Castle) lies the beautiful Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden, and from 13th to the 21st of February, they invite you to come search for natural signs that spring is on the way (plus, there’s the chance to win a small prize…). For more information on entry fees (although kids 0-5 go free!), opening times, and directions, visit their website here.

Bubble Fun at the Castle Mall

Castle Mall, Norwich

On 18 February, Castle Mall is hosting a few very special, very talented visitors. Captain Calamity will dazzle the crowds with his amazing bubble shows, and the daring duo Philippe Philloppe will climb to dizzying heights and ride penny farthings. Head on over to the Castle Mall site for show times. And the best part? It’s completely free! Just make sure that you get there in plenty of time so you can snag a spot where everyone of all heights can see.

Comedy Club 4 Kids

Norwich Playhouse

Finally: a comedy show that’s family-friendly without compromising on humour! The Comedy Club 4 Kids has been performing stand-up and sketch acts to audiences small and large since 2005, and they are coming to the Norwich Playhouse on Saturday 13 February. This show will feature 3 comedians, an MC and endless laughs (parents, you’ll probably enjoy this just as much as your little ones). Book now at the Playhouse website.

So there you have it: from bubbles to dragons to Italian, there’s my list of half term activities for guaranteed family fun.
