A Postcard From… Shore Gate House
A trip back home to Cumbria wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the Solway. Staying at the Shore Gate House Bed & Breakfast, this is the beautiful view from the patio across the Solway to Scotland.

When I was a little girl I would visit my grandparents in the summer holidays. My granny had the most amazing garden to the front of her house. With beautiful flower beds, rose bush archway and a lawn that I could only ever dream of achieving. In front of the window was a wooden garden bench which she would sit on whilst the grandchildren played. I think this was partly to keep an eye on us, but mostly so we didn’t destroy her beautiful garden.
I’ve been quite emotional this week. A mixture of womanly hormones and missing Roo and Tigger. I’ve found myself crying at TV programmes, sobbing in the cinema and getting annoyed with myself when things don’t go to plan.
Tomorrow I make the journey back ‘up north’ to see and collect my two oldest babies. I’m so excited to see them again and start our summer of fun together.
Now that the summer holidays are in full swing it can be challenging to keep your kids occupied and entertained. Often you might also struggle to find childcare for the summer holidays. However, while you can’t always guarantee that the weather will be perfect, you can guarantee you’ll find the perfect childcare when you use the www.childcare.co.uk website.
The results of a £1.2 million visitor improvement and conservation project at Framlingham Castle in Suffolk have recently been unveiled. A brand new café and retail space have been added to the Workhouse at Framlingham Castle and an original mezzanine level has been reinstated to house a new exhibition which tells the stories of the historic property and its former residents, including Mary Tudor, who was proclaimed Queen of England at the castle in 1553.
The latest release in the LEGO City range is LEGO City Jungle, a follow up to the volcano and sea-based themes they have had in the past few years (both of which Tigger has loved). With a range of sets for both ability and price point available, it is a range to capture your imagination and create adventures with.
As part of the initiative, LEGO® City & National Geographic Kids will launch an exciting new competition to win a National Geographic Family Expedition to the jungles of Costa Rica in Central America! The winning family will explore the treetops and volcanic canyon landscapes of Rio Blanco, go zip lining through tropical forests surrounded by astonishing wildlife, visit a wildcat rescue centre to meet orphaned ocelots and jaguars, dine in a tree house and get to experience the real-life jungle.
It’s that time of year again, the weather’s gorgeous and you’re thinking about back to school for your tots and teens. With UK school budgets really tight with economic pressures at their height, is it time that us parents started to help ease the burden?
One of the things that we love to do as a family is going out and enjoying a meal together. Whether it is just the five of us or whether we are meeting up with family and friends for a larger get-together. Going out allows us the opportunity to all enjoy the time together, without one of us thinking about checking the oven or loading the dishwasher etc. It is a chance to just be a family, chat together and swap stories from our week etc.
