8 Boredom Busters for Bored Kids

April 11, 2019

A bored child is a child who is more likely to find themselves in trouble. When kids are bored, they can act out, get into things they’re not supposed to, and even throw temper tantrums without really knowing why. When you find that your kids are misbehaving because they’re bored, finding a few boredom busters for bored kids is the way to calm them down easily.

Family Game Day

When you’re looking for boredom busters for kids, board games are a tried and true old standby. Pull the old games you have at your home off the shelf and let your kids pick one or two of their favorites. They’ll be having so much fun they’ll forget they were ever bored.

Kids Crafts

Bored kids love kids crafts! If you don’t know of one off hand, head online and find a few of your favourite kids’ crafts to offer to your kids. Gather the supplies and spend a few days making awesome things your kids will love! They’ll be super proud of their crafts and you’ll love that they aren’t complaining about being bored.

Bake a Cake with Them

Most kids love to cook or bake with help so why not bake a cake with your kids if they’re bored? Let them do the tasks that are safe for them to do and help them do the ones that aren’t. Once the cake is done, let your kids frost it and enjoy a piece together!

Have a nature scavenger hunt

Get your kids outside with a nature scavenger hunt! Give them a list of 8 or 10 things to find around your back yard and turn them loose! They’ll have a blast! If you want to make it even more fun, take them to a hiking trail or park and have them find the things on your list.

Image and Chalk

Play with sidewalk chalk

I don’t know of a single child who doesn’t love drawing in the driveway or on the sidewalk with sidewalk chalk. Grab a big box and let your kids outside to release their inner Picasso.

Host a movie night

Grab some popcorn and put their favorite Disney movie on the tv. Turn the lights down low, the volume up a bit and add a blanket fort and you’ve got a family movie night that works great as a boredom buster for kids!

Put on a play

What is more fun than putting on a play or skit? Have your kids write their own script and let them into your closet to find dress up clothes. Once they’re ready, sit the rest of the family down for the performance and enjoy!

Sing karaoke

Youtube is packed with karaoke videos with lyrics. If you have bored kids, put them on and dance around singing karaoke for a bit. Your kids will think you’re goofy and fun and you’ll get the extra workout!
