The London Olympics: Embrace it or escape it?

Hate it or love it, the Olympics is upon us. And with the Torch relay nearing the end of its 70 day voyage, we’re getting ever closer to the opening ceremonies. But are you filled with excitement at the imminent arrival of this four year sporting spectacle, or does it fill you with dread? Are you waiting with bated breath to see if we take gold? Or are you poised and ready to make tracks out of the capital? Either way, we’ve come up with our definitive list of things to do in and out of London during the games!

Embrace London
If you’re looking to remain int he thick of things over the coming weeks, here is our list of the top things to do:

Segway Rally for Two
Unless you’re already off to see Usain Bolt tear up the track at the Olympic stadium this August, why not take part in your own race? A segway rally race, that is! Available in London, and for just under £35, you’ll first learn to drive one of these advanced vertical scooters before being sent off to compete with one another at your own pace.

Take a trip on the London eye
One thing is for sure: there’ll be highs and lows this London Olympics. But why not experience your own ultimate high onboard the iconic London eye? Perfect for family days out, enjoy panoramic views over the river and take in the breathtaking city landscape. It’s a great day – and all for under £20 for adults and under £10 for children. There are also packages that entitle you to your very own glass of champers, too – bliss!

Enjoy a traditional British treat
In honour of team GB, why not try something quintessentially British? And what could possibly be more regal than a sip of Afternoon tea? With a range of great London locations to choose from – including Harrods and none other than Buckingham Palace, you could also take a cruise down the river Thames, where you’ll enjoy a choice of the finest British teas.

But perhaps you’d rather be well away from London this summer? You needn’t fret; here are our top three things you can do to break away:

Take to the track in a top of the range supercar
A far cry from the grid lock we’re likely to see in the next few weeks, you’ll have nothing but open track ahead of you on a supercar driving day experience. Fancy yourself as a bit of James Bond? Opt for an Aston Martin track day. But if you’re just somebody with a need for speed and an addiction for road friction, there is a huge range of driving experiences on offer. From Ferrari driving to the chance to put a top of the range Lotus through its paces – you’ll love every minute of it.

Take a short break
If you fancy getting away for a little longer, the UK boasts a wealth of fantastic country and city locations that are great for short breaks. From charismatic Chester to the beautiful city of Edinburgh, you’re spoilt for choice and there are some great deals out there.
